New bicycle path along the coast

The new bike path runs just over five kilometres, starting at the northern end of the seafront promenade right by the entrance to the town park. It ends close to the bay at the foot of Cape Emine, where the municipality has built a small turning area with benches and bike racks.
The funding came partly from EU environment money and partly from the municipal budget. The surface is asphalt with marked lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, no significant gradients. Children of 8 or 9 can handle it comfortably. Along the route there are three shaded rest spots and two drinking fountains.
The municipality is already talking about extending the route south toward Sunny Beach, though without a firm date. For now use is free; rentals are available from several shops in the centre.
