The Sea and the South End of the Beach

Coastal walk

The Sea and the South End of the Beach

The long curve of the bay that runs south to the quiet end of the beach, away from the busy centre.

Highlights

  • A long curve of fine sand leading to the quiet southern end.
  • A quieter, more open stretch away from the busy centre.
  • Where the water sports run and the shoreline walks get long.

Why go

Obzor beach curves a long way south, and its quiet end pulls you away from the umbrellas and the music. Walking that way brings you to a wider, calmer band of sand, where the sea is the only view.

What to expect

The beach here is about six kilometres of fine sand that curves gently south. The water stays shallow far out, and toward the southern end the surf and the green of the shore replace the busy centre. On the way you pass the water-sports zone before the crowds thin and the sand becomes your own.

Good to know

It is roughly an hour and a half of easy walking on the sand from the centre to the southern end. Bring water, a hat and a mat, because there are no paid umbrellas there. The light is softest, and the sea calmest, in the early morning and toward evening.
