The beach as a pitch

Four kilometres of fine sand give the town more room for tournaments than the town itself has. Beach volleyball is the staple, sand football tournaments show up at the height of the season, and the more organised competitions usually arrive with the municipal summer programme.

In the water

The sea is shallow and calm, which is good for beginners and less interesting for surfing. Boat trips and water sports have their own section here. Diving and sailing are usually run by the beach operators rather than announced as dated events.

The mountains behind the town

Obzor sits at the foot of the eastern end of the Balkan range, and about fourteen kilometres to the south those mountains reach the sea at Cape Emine. That is where Kom-Emine ends, the Bulgarian section of European path E3 and the longest mountain traverse in the country. Getting there is not a promenade walk: it is real terrain, and you start early, before the heat.
